The beta-glucans are extracted in several steps using a gentle hot water extraction. First, the raw mushroom fruiting bodies are hand sorted to remove impurities and then ground into a coarse powder. The ground mushrooms are placed into an extraction tank with hot water, which cracks the fungal cells to release the beneficial compounds inside. Then, the liquid filtrate is drained, separating it from the solid biomass. Finally, the liquid filtrate is concentrated into a powder using the reserved solids that were previously removed, allowing the concentrate to be spray dried without the use of excipients and filers.
